OMG WOW! Amazing bakery! I go to tons of bakeries & I think this is the best one in Oak Park & one of the best in Chicagoland! I LOVED everything I tried from the cookies, to muffins to scones. Super high quality & extremely fresh products. Some of the pastries were still warm from the oven as I got there right at 8 am when they open. Even then, there was a little line out the door. Many people got coffee drinks but I didn’t this time. They also have $2 wonky cookies (just weirdly shaped cookies) that are a great deal. I tried: chocolate chip cookie, banana bread, vegan chocolate muffin (extra delish), goat cheese chili scone (excellent) & the wonky birthday cookie (amazing & buttery - melts in your mouth). Can’t wait to go back & try other things! Please note the place is tiny with only a few tables & chairs & there’s metered street parking so I took my order to go. 10.25.24 update: the kale salad done is truly amazing! The toasted coconut cake was sooo good and the chiffon cake was delightful. The savory corn biscuit was good but I preferred the scone, which is totally worth traveling for.

The olive oil cake is phenomenal, and the chocolate chip cookie and cappuccino are among the best I've had. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the place is so cute. The constant stream of enthusiastic customers has the right idea, and I look forward to returning and trying everything.

Discovered this place by delivering a large Door Dash order from a Restaurant Depot to who I assume was the owner. She greeted me with a smile and quickly helped me unload 500+lbs of fresh, handpicked ingredients. As a thank you she sent me away with the most delicious assortment of baked goods I’ve ever had the pleasure of indulging in. I can’t wait to go back on my own time and see what else this place has to offer.

The Kale Salad Scone is delicious. Great spot to grab a drink and snack near the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio Museum.

Broken Tart is hands down the best bakery in Oak Park. The Kale Salad scone is the best scone I've ever had in my life. The chocolate chip ricotta cake is to die for. The sweet scones (when they have them) have always been amazing. The biscuits are tasty as well - seasoned to perfection. Love the smoothies and espresso drinks too. The staff is friendly and welcoming, despite often having a line out the door! I would skip the rosemary scone if you go and definitely get the kale and/or sweet. I've gotten a couple mini cakes as well, one of which was unfortunately pretty dry (this one was a carrot cake - maybe just a one off miss, since BT has usually been so good), but the other was amazing (some kind of hazelnut chocolate I believe). The regular bakery items have never disappointed! Cakes are also aesthetically beautiful, which is always a plus.

First time visit last week while visiting the city and so sad we do not have a Broken Tart at home! Highly highly highly suggest a visit to this beautiful bakery! I ordered a grain free chocolate chip cookie and a BT iced latte special and was not disappointed. Busy Friday morning but was still greeted with smiling faces and available seating! I love the atmosphere and neighborhood feeling, you can tell this is some people’s daily spot and is absolutely felt as I sat and enjoyed my treats! Very accessible and plenty of options for all dietary restrictions.

My boyfriend and I came to oak park to stay for a week to visit chicago and matthiesen state park, we stayed for 5 days and tried broken tart on our first day and ended up eating here 4/5 days we stayed! We tried their savory kale croissant which was DELICIOUS, savory cheese and honey biscuit, again AMAZING, the sweet jam and cream biscuit, the sandwich they had and much more. Everything we tried was so good, the flavors all worked so well together!

Delicious pastries and such a cozy atmosphere at Broken Tart! I had the vegan banana chocolate chip muffin with a green juice, both were great, though I do wish they offered a larger juice size option. I honestly hadn’t had a pastry in a while, but after reading so many positive reviews, we decided to stop by and it did not disappoint. My husband had the pimento cheddar cornbread, my son had the sweet cornbread, and they also enjoyed a latte and hot chocolate. Everyone agreed it was absolutely worth the wait in line, and we would definitely recommend it and come back again. It’s a small, calm, welcoming bakery with a cozy atmosphere. We really appreciated that they don’t rush customers in and out, they make you feel comfortable and genuinely welcomed.

Hard to not get everything behind the pastry counter! Delicious pastry assortment, savory and sweet-something for everyone! Don’t skip on the pimento biscuit. Super crispy and great balance of buttery, cheesy, perfect amount of pimento in the middle. Coffees tasted great. Wasn’t super busy on a Sunday at 9 but I could see it picking up a bit later. Plenty of seating inside and outside.

Amazing spot. On point vibes with some seating indoor and out, although I have only over got mine to go I definitely plan to enjoy the patio seating soon. I can only speak to the pastries as I have yet to indulge in any beverages - however that does not mean I don’t have plenty to speak on! As a savory fan I must say the kale salad scone is my favorite thus far, rich but not overpowering. As for the sweet treats I’d have to go with the tea cake featuring seasonal fruit and earl grey frosting. Second favorite would have to be the chocolate cherry scone as it has a unique balance of sweet and savory. A staple stop for me when I’m around
